Cluj International Ceramics Biennale @ CCPB

Cluj International Ceramics Biennale @ CCPB
Launched at the end of 2013, Cluj International Ceramics Biennale has become in the meantime a viable platform for the knowledge and promotion of contemporary trends in international ceramics. The initiative would not have been possible without the existence of a group of enthusiastic artists, including Arina and Cornel Ailincăi, Gavril Zmicală, Marius Georgescu and Vasi Hîrdo who wanted to recover a less valorized domain. The diversity of the artworks presented during the biennale, as well as the multitude of events and workshops, have led to a better knowledge of the contemporary international ceramic phenomenon. The applications of local artists and also of those from other parts of Europe (Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Denmark, UK); Asia; America and Australia have given rise to a true artistic effervescence. A multitude of styles, techniques and concepts have been approached in the works presented during the three biennials of 2013, 2015 and 2017 respectively. In fact, the exhibition enjoys a rich technical repertoire which includes both classical firing and reduction firing or raku. The multitude of experimental techniques has led to the rise of some original surfaces, very similar to biological, organic, molecular, geometric, geological, architectural structures and so on.
Therefore, we are presenting artworks from the Collection from Cluj International Ceramics Biennale, inviting you on Saturday, September 1, from 6.30 P.M. at the opening of the exhibition that will take place in Cuhnia Hall and also at the Ice House of the “Brancovenesti Palace” from Cultural Center, Mogosoaia.
