Small Etching Biennial @ Timişoara 2017

Small Etching Biennial @ Timişoara 2017
On December 15, 2017 at 18:00h, the opening of the fourth edition of the International Small Etching Biennial “Graphium” – Timisoara 2017 will take place at the “Helios” Gallery.
The exhibitions are organized on the occasion of the biennial. They take place in three locations: the Helios Gallery, the National Museum of Banat (the Bastion Theresia), and the Faculty of Arts and Design UVT.
Preceded by the Graphium Engraving Biennial Student Salon in Romania since 1995, the BIGMG – Timisoara project started in 2004 as a result of the long-lasting activity of the Graphium Etching Workshop, set up in 1980, within the UAPT. In 2004, it was the only etching workshop in Romania, specialized in most of the traditional etching techniques, bringing together a group of young artists from Timisoara, graduates of the Faculty of Art. The biennial project is initiated and coordinated by the graphic artist, prof. dr. Constantin Catargiu, founder and sustainer of the etching workshop “Graphium”, under the aegis of the Union of Fine Artists Timisoara.
The results of the three editions of 2004, 2006 and 2008 impulses us to continue the organization of international cultural actions in Timişoara, a candidate-city for the title of European Cultural Capital for 2021.
For this edition, the organizers count on about 400 works signed by artists from Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine, Hungary. The works are selected by an international jury.
