Ioana Niculescu-Aron (b. 1994, Bucharest) holds a B.A. in Painting from the National University of Arts in Bucharest (2015). She is now enrolled in the MA program „Creation Strategy in Painting” at the same university. She has also studied painting at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, in Milan, Italy (2014-2015), as a recipient of an Erasmus Scholarship, and at HEAR (Haute école des arts du Rhin) in Strasbourg-Mulhouse, France (2016).

So far, she has had several solo shows: „Quintessence” in 2014, at SmartChange, in Bucharest, Romania; „MEREU: 8 Rue Seveste, 75018 Paris” in 2016, at Europe Gallery, in Brasov, and at Go Contemporary, in Bucharest. Her most recent solo show, “Equilibrium”, took place at Artifact Gallery in Lower East Side, New York (June-July 2016) and was featured in “Art Reveal Magazine”: “Art Reveal Magazine”.

She has also participated in numerous group shows in Romania and abroad (Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and the USA). In 2014, she attended the painting and restoration camp at Arcus Cultural Center, Romania.

She was awarded several prizes and scholarships, including:

2014-2015 an Erasmus scholarship at „Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera”, Milan, Italy;

2014 The winner of the „Ladder” competition, organized by Laborna Gallery, Bucharest, Romania;

2014-2015 Merit Scholarship offered by the National University of Arts, Bucharest, Romania;

2015 First artist selected to be part of the  “99 Lovers from around the world” project (curated by Muni Leykauf from München, Germany).
