(Română) A fost odată în România @ CAV parter
Through the chosen subjects, Lucian Liciu, a fine observer of society, does not intend to reveal, to damn or to parody. Romania from the artist’s project represents a space that he explores knowingly, from which he inspires and which he translates into a visual sign. In his paintings, drawings, objects and installations, the daily realities are represented in surprising aspects, if not allegorical, at least iconic. Conceived as a whole, the exhibition captivates rather through the aspects that have not been approached, than by the clear identification of some moments from the country’s recent history. The non-realistic manner is an argument of art in front of the subject, the latter being merely the ambassador of visual reasons, not the stake itself.
