Ionescu Alina Geanina
Prezentare Demers Artistic
Despite her ethereal appearance, Geanina is an earthy and extremely temperamental artist. She feels the image and any of its details and then she renders it on painting, with a firm hand and excessive nervousness. So I tend to believe that the object she takes notes with warms up because of the grip of her hand and because of the speed with which it is moved on paper.
The artist doesn’t try to embellish the world around her, the apparent reality. On the contrary, she sometimes thickens its distonalities and imperfections. Far from the slightly outdated aestheticism, frequent in the feminine art, Geanina comes with an unexpected force, distorting the ordinary… Violent colours, giving the impression that sometimes they are out of the optical control, emphasized by large surfaces and white or black lines, chromatic contrasts taken to the extreme, are now means with which Geanina creates that stability and weight of the compositions, the same degree of drama already intrinsic for her works. The nervousness and frenzy come to emphasize the unexpected force of the artist. Not a trace of femininity in the images, not a minimum of compromise on the plan of the academist aestheticism. Claude Lévi-Strauss’ famous book “Wild thinking” – at one time a myth of my generation – comes to my mind, and not only for the title…
