Call for artists to take part in the second edition of Watercolor Biennale Novi Sad.

All artists aged 18 or over can take part in the competition. The second biennial, organised by Novi Sad Culture Center,  will be held  in Novi Sad at the beginning of Decemberr 2025.

Artists living outside Serbia will be required to send a good quality reproduction print of their work, if their entry is selected for the exhibition, since the organisers will not be shipping back submitted works to the artists living outside Serbia.

In case of an entry from an artist based outside Serbia getting the prize, the artist will be obliged to send the original to the organisers.

All artists with the address in Serbia will be required to send the original work for the exhibition.

All artists can submit only one work for the jury.

The call is open till 20th October, 2025.

The jury awards one monetary prize.

No fee entry.

Propositions:

• Entries must have one photo of the work submitted for the jury, and 3 or 4 additional photos of the other watercolours by the artist, as a reference.
• Photos of the works have to show the entire work, without frames or other background, and they mustn’t be digitally enhanced, no filters or other changes. Photos have to be properly orientated, 300 dpi, (Poor quality photos that don’t follow the upper guidelines will not be considered).
• Be sure to name the photos as follows:

“Full name and last name_title_dimensions in cm_year of making”.

• Work has to be the original work of the artist, made in the last 2 years; copies of other works, work done in classes or workshops, or work from photos that are not owned by the artist will not be accepted.
• 90% of the painting has to be in transparent watercolour, on paper.
• Work cannot be smaller than 26X36 cm, or larger than 56X76 cm;
• There is no set theme.
• The form (offered with this call) should be filled, signed and scanned or photographed, and sent along with the photos, via email.
• Printed form will be sent with the work itself, when the work is selected for the exhibition.
• Additionally, a very brief artist bio should be included in the entry email.

Jury process:

1. Selection – the jury makes a selection of the works that will participate in the exhibition;
2. Selected work is shown on our FB page, where public votes for the Public Award (art material and placket);
3. The jury chooses the work for the award.

All jury decisions are final.

The jury may choose to award additional (non-monetary) rewards and honorable mentions.

Jury criteria:

• Skill level in the medium;
• Artistic achievement;
• Originality.

By entering the competition, all artists agree to these terms.

By submitting their entry, authors whose work is chosen for the exhibition, commit to sending their work on time.

The deadline for sending the work is November 15th, 2025.

There is no entry fee for this call.

Shipping costs are the responsibility of the author.

All the details regarding shipping address, exhibition opening and guest artists demonstration will be published at a later date.
