… Am fost martor la debutul expoziţional al domnului Stanciu, pe la mijlocul anilor 1980, când Teatrul Mic din Bucureşti luase lăudabila iniţiativă (din nefericire, pierdută între timp) de a prezenta, în holul sălii din str. Sărindar, lucrări ale tinerilor artişti. Am remarcat atunci enunţul său coloristic, delicateţea sentimentului, o anume rigoare a construcţiei compoziţionale.
În orice caz, era uşor să-ţi dai seama că artistul avusese parte de o bună lecţie de pictură în atelierele bucureştene de pe atunci şi că, tenace şi dornic să înţeleagă foarte bine esenţa acestei lecţii şi, odată cu ea, sensul raporturilor artei cu lumea şi cu artistul însuşi, el făcea efortul unei necesare aprofundări.
I-am întâlnit din nou picturile la un deceniu de când le văzusem pentru întâia oară şi constat că, fără să-şi fi pierdut prospeţimea şi candoarea, el şi-a continuat cu seriozitate drumul spre regăsirea autenticei sale personalităţi artistice.
Discret, ferindu-se de gesturi spectaculoase, grandilocvente, el îşi urmează îndemnurile propriului temperament şi ajunge la rezultate vrednice de a fi luate în seamă.

In the middle of the eighties, I witnessed the first exhibition of paintings of mister Stanciu, when the Small Theatre of Bucharest took the praiseworthy initiative (unfortunately, lost in the mean time) to present the works of young artists within the hall from Sarindar street. I noticed then the colour enunciation, the tenderness of the feeling, a certain strictness of the compositional construction.
In any case, it was easy to realize that the artist had had a good painting lesson within the workshops of Bucharest of the time and that, tenacious and eager to understand very well the essence of that lesson, and with it, the meaning of the relationship of art, world and artist himself, he made efforts of necessary thorough study.
I’ve encountered his works a decade later and I’ve found that without loosing his freshness and pure-mindedness he seriously continued the way to regain his genuine artistic personality.
Discreetly, avoiding spectacular, grandiloquent motions, he follows the inducements of his temperament and reaches outcomes worthy to be taken into consideration.
