Lost in browsing

The annual exhibition of the expanded media section of ULUS in 2024 under the title „Lost in browsing” is a continuation of the research that was initiated within the section on the topic of various aspects of the production of works from the field of expanded media in the intellectual-artistic and technical-technological context.
We invite artists to present works through which they reflect upon contemporary models of information distribution and processing, web browsing and surfing and its impact on human perception and cognition, knowledge and sensibility. Availability of various kinds of knowledge, intense social networks, and resources for searching, sharing and transformation of both public and personal data, creation of various contents through AI is aimed at substituting our behavior and preferences, with data based models.

All of the above affects an individual whose thoughts and desires are often weakly anchored in reality and who, in a state of confusion, hardly succeeds in finding a root in their own knowledge and experience. We are often even unconsciously looking for the remains of human in the dense layers of the digital sphere, only apparently solid, but actually unstable.
Authentic inspiration, individual progress, a complete change in the course of events, the electronic revolution, the realization of different potentials, accidental discoveries seem less and less possible and even less meaningful as a prospect of human existence.
Therefore, with this exhibition, we are opening a space for witty and experimental, science-fiction, more broadly futuristic, historical or some kind of as yet undiscovered reflections on the relationship between man and technology.
EXHIBITION PROPOSALS:
Artists can submit completed or unfinished works in the following form:

1. Presentation of the idea, through two components:
   A – an visual representation of an idea in the field of extended media in a free form (through a picture, photograph, draft, sketch, model, video insert, photo collage, spatial installation, drawing, technical drawing) that consistently shows the idea of ​​the artistic work
   A1 – short and well-founded text explanation with all important technical elements for the realization of the same artistic work (up to 300 words)*
   B – or realized work in the field of extended media in free form (through a picture, photograph, draft, sketch, model, video inserts, photo collage, spatial installation, drawing, technical drawing)
   B1 – short and well-founded text explanation with all important technical elements for the realization of the same artistic work (up to 300 words)*
   Participants can also propose:
2. Performative program in the area of ​​the „Cvijete Zuzorić” Art Pavilion, which deals with the given topic

The competition is open to all artists, and each author or artistic group has the right to submit up to two works for the exhibition.
Mandatory for SUBMISSION of works is to:
– fill out application FORM

• add at least one photograph of the work, size 10x15cm, 300 dpi resolution, RGB color mode
  Competition applications, which must contain the entire competition material, are submitted by e-mail to the address: godisnja.prosirenimediji@gmail.com
  Electronic application of each work applicant to the competition for each individual work is mandatory.
