INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE AT THE ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION

WEST MEETS EAST- A CULTURAL BOOK EXCHANGE / VESTUL ȊNTÂLNEŞTE ESTUL-SCHIMB CULTURAL DE CARTE

The XVth Edition, 2026/Ediţia a XV-a, 2026

Initiated in 2009 by Joanne R. Luongo (visual artist from the United States of America) and Daniela Frumușeanu (visual artist from Romania), the WEST MEETS EAST-A CULTURAL BOOK EXCHANGE project will reach its 15th edition in 2026.

The participants so far are: professional artists from Romania, the United States of America, the Netherlands, India, the Slovak Republic, Poland, Italy, France; Germany; teaching staff, graduates and students of the National University of Arts Bucharest, the „G. Enescu” University of Arts Iaşi, the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca, the Faculty of Arts Galați, the West University of Timișoara, the Faculty of Visual Arts Oradea (Romania), Worcester State College, Quinsigamond Community College, The Massachusetts College of Art & Design (U.S.A.).

Like previous editions, a catalogue with ISBN will be produced for this edition.

As always, there will be an international jury that will select the works.

The exhibition will take place between March 11-27th, 2026, at The National Museum of Romanian Literature, Calea Griviţei no. 64-66, Bucharest, Romania.

The event will be held under the patronage of The City Hall of the Capital, The National Museum of Romanian Literature, The Union of Visual Artists of Romania.

PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS:

● Exhibition theme: EVERYTHING IS INTERWOVEN; this idea appears in stoicism (e.g. Marcus Aurelius), in Buddhism or in other systems of thought that speak of the unity of existence;

● The material from which the work will be made and the working technique: at the artist’s choice;

● One or two works created between 2024-2026 are accepted, with dimensions at the artist’s choice;

● The following documents will be sent to frumuseanu@gmail.com by January 13, 2026:

1. Image of the work in jpg format, 300 dpi resolution, maximum digital image size A4; in the image box, the artist’s first name/surname, and the title of the work will be entered. Please send a single, illustrative image of the entire work/works!

2. The registration form will include: the artist’s first name / last name, title of the work, technique, dimensions, year of creation, price, home address, e-mail address, telephone number (the home address, e-mail address and telephone number will be used only by the curator for the purpose of returning the works and informing the artists about the stages of the exhibition);

3. Text of 2, 3 lines maximum, referring to the message of the work; this text will be present both in the exhibition next to the work and in the catalog;

● The selection result will be announced by e-mail and on Facebook on January 15th, 2026;

● Accepted works will be sent between February 16-20th, 2026, to an address that will be

communicated by email to the selected artists;

● Round-trip transportation costs will be fully borne by the artists;

● The package will state: NO COMMERCIAL VALUE | FOR EDUCATIONAL USE;

● The contribution will be 40 Euros (salary fee, catalog DTP, catalog printing, art critic, printing of promotional materials, protocol, etc.);

● Selected artists are asked to include in the package, alongside the work, both the printed home address (necessary for shipping the package), and the contribution;

● The organizers have the right to use images representing the exhibited works for the purpose of promoting the exhibition, without payment to the author;

● The decisions of the selection committee are final;

● The organizers do not assume responsibility for damage to the works during transport;

● During the exhibition, artists cannot withdraw their works;

Participanții de până acum sunt: artiști profesioniști din România, Statele Unite ale Americii, Olanda, India, Republica Slovacă, Polonia, Italia, Franța; Germania; cadre didactice, absolvenți și studenți ai Universității Naționale de Arte București, „G. Universitatea de Arte „Enescu” Iași, Universitatea de Artă și Design Cluj-Napoca, Facultatea de Arte Galați, Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara, Facultatea de Arte Vizuale Oradea (România), Worcester State College, Quinsigamond Community College, Massachusetts College of Art & Design (SUA).

Ca și edițiile anterioare, se va produce un catalog cu ISBN pentru această ediție.

Ca întotdeauna, va exista un juriu internațional care va selecta lucrările.

Expoziția va avea loc în perioada 11-27 martie 2026, la Muzeul Național al Literaturii Române, Calea Griviței nr. 64-66, București, România.

Evenimentul se va desfășura sub patronajul Primăriei Capitalei, Muzeul Național al Literaturii Române, Uniunea Artiștilor Vizuali din România.

REGULAMENTE DE PARTICIPARE:

● Tema expoziției: TOTUL ESTE INTERWOVEN; această idee apare în stoicism (ex. Marcus Aurelius), în budism sau în alte sisteme de gândire care vorbesc despre unitatea existenței;

● Materialul din care se va realiza lucrarea si tehnica de lucru: la alegerea artistului;

● Se acceptă una sau două lucrări create în perioada 2024-2026, cu dimensiuni la alegerea artistului;

● Următoarele documente vor fi trimise la adresa frumuseanu@gmail.com până la 13 ianuarie 2026:

1. Imaginea lucrarii in format jpg, rezolutie 300 dpi, dimensiune maxima a imaginii digitale A4; in caseta de imagini se introduce prenumele/ prenumele artistului, si titlul lucrarii. Vă rugăm să trimiteți o singură imagine ilustrativă a întregii lucrări/lucrări!

2. Formularul de inscriere va cuprinde: prenumele/ prenumele artistului, titlul lucrarii, tehnica, dimensiunile, anul creatiei, pret, adresa de domiciliu, adresa de e-mail, numarul de telefon (adresa de domiciliu, adresa de e-mail si numarul de telefon vor fi folosite doar de catre curator in scopul restituirii lucrarilor și informarea artiștilor despre etapele expoziției);

3. Text de 2, 3 linii maxim, referitor la mesajul lucrarii; acest text va fi prezent atat in expozitia de langa lucrare cat si in catalog;

● Rezultatul selecției va fi anunțat prin e-mail și pe Facebook pe 15 ianuarie 2026;

● Lucrările acceptate vor fi trimise în perioada 16-20 februarie 2026, la o adresă care va fi

comunicat prin e-mail artiștilor selectați;

● Costurile transportului dus-intors vor fi suportate integral de artisti;

● Pachetul va preciza: FĂRĂ VALOARE COMERCIALĂ | PENTRU UZ EDUCAȚIONAL;

● Contribuția va fi de 40 euro (taxa salarială, DTP catalog, tipărire catalog, critic de artă, tipărire materiale promoționale, protocol etc. );

● Artiștii selectați sunt rugați să includă în pachet, alături de lucrare, atât adresa de domiciliu tipărită (necesară expedierii coletului), cât și contribuția;

● Organizatorii au dreptul de a folosi imagini reprezentând lucrările expuse în scopul promovării expoziției, fără plata autorului;

● Deciziile comisiei de selecție sunt definitive;

● Organizatorii nu își asumă responsabilitatea deteriorării lucrărilor în timpul transportului;

● În cadrul expoziției, artiștii nu își pot retrage lucrările;
