Pictura trebuie să transforme o privire indiferentă intr-una interesată. Dacă peste o pictură “se trece cu privirea”, aceasta nu işi justifică existenţa. Chiar dacă spunem o “poveste colorată” destinată a decora un spatiu, sau o poveste inteligentă, incărcată de sensuri, esenţial este ca privitorul sa simtă că i se transmite ceva. O imagine care să-l afecteze la nivelul senzaţiilor sau o imagine care să se adreseze inteligenţei, determinandu-l, la fel ca intr-un scenariu cu final deschis, să acorde inţelesuri şi finaluri proprii.

The purpose of a painting is to turn an indifferent viewer into an interested one. If a painting is “overlooked” , it has missed its goal. Whether we are telling a “story in colors”, meant solely for decoration, or a meaningful story, meant to “feed” the mind, it is essential that the viewer feels that he or she is being told something. An image should touch either the senses or the mind, thus making the viewer give his or her own meaning and purpose to a painting, just like in a movie with an open ending.”
