Confesiuni obsesive @ Artoteca

Between April 15 and May 12, Artoteca Gallery from Bucharest, will host the personal painting exhibition of the artist Marius Barb Barbone, „Obsessive Confessions”.

For Marius Barb, the approach to mythology through the chosen subjects is a second nature, the first being, without a doubt, that of an artist. His artworks draw attention due to their organization, chromatics and solutions, but they seduce thanks to the meanings with which the proposed visual signs are endowed. If some time ago I noticed that the artist surpriseseverytime his artworks are displayedin galleries, in recent years, he confirms with each of the projects he undertakes.

After the solo graphics show,Veterotestamentar, in which he approached the myth of the fall in both the gnoseological and angelic way, in the painting exhibition Obsessive Confessions, the artist approaches the theme of temptation, seen more from the perspective of the myth of the Flyer, than from the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise, though he kept the idea of wings and the serpent. Interesting from an iconographic point of view is the fact that the theme, as it was treated, has no moral or pejorative connotations. In this project, Barbone, as the artist signs, equates temptation with seduction and the loss of innocence, as a natural process of life, not as an act of incrimination or accident. Moreover, according to the discussions with him, the works are based on personal experiences and feelings, with universal connotations, however. The identification of the painter himself with the seducer is in fact the guarantee of the benign who dominates his canvases and triumphs in his project.
