„Pictura lui Adrian Samson porneşte de la două elemente esenţiale ale străvechii civilizaţii româneşti: lemnul şi piatra. El le pune în lumină valoarea simbolică, înţelesurile lăuntrice pe care, de atâtea secole de când se vorbeşte limba românească în acest spaţiu de cultură europeană, poezia şi cântecul le-au cuprins întotdeauna.
În imaginile sale, piatra e mai ales zidire, e mărturie sacră a istoriei de demult a oamenilor din aceste locuri. În faţa picturilor lui Adrian Samson încerci acelaşi sentiment pe care ţi-l comunică vestigiile din munţii Orăştiei: ele nu-ţi dau niciodată senzaţia de ruină, de amintire copleşită de timp. Ci sunt vii; conţin semnificaţiile existenţei umane, sunt natura transformată în istorie. Iar lemnul e însăşi creşterea bărbătească, aspră, puternică. E copacul bătrân şi noduros din pădure, trunchiul din care ţâşnesc crengile şi mugurii ce-i aduc necontenit viaţă bătrânului veghind peste timp. În felul acesta, pictura lui respinge programatic orice calofilie estetizantă şi îşi supune simţul rafinamentului cromatic, al echilibrului compoziţional unei idei directoare care e aceea a afirmării unor adevăruri fundamentale ale existenţei noastre.”

Prezentare Demers Artistic

Adrian Samson’s painting starts from two esential elements of the ancient Romanian civilization: the wood and the stone. He is highlighting their symbolic value, their deepest meanings, whom the poetry and song ever comprised, from centuries, since the Romanian language is spoken in the space of European culture.
In his images, the stone is especially masonry, a sacred testimony of the ancient history of the people from these places. In front of Adrian Samson’s paintings, you try the same feeling that is communicated by the vestiges from Orăștie Mountains: they never give you the ruin sensation, or the feeling of a memory overwhelmed by time. They are alive, they contain the meanings of human existence, they are the nature transformed in history. And the wood represents itself the rough, powerful growth of a man. It’s the old and gnarly tree from the forest, the tree trunk of whom branches and buds that bring life spring out, again and again, watching over time. In this way, his painting style programmatically rejects any excessive aesthetics and it is subduing its own sense of chromatic refinement, of compositional equilibrium to a guiding idea, that is the affirmation of some essential truths of our existence.
